An unforgettable and safe school trip in Transcarpathia

Your children are in safe hands

We organise school trips so that the children have fun and the teacher can relax.

Organising a school trip on your own means dozens of calls and approvals

We have gathered what worries teachers and parents most - and we have a ready solution for every concern:

You need to clear the trip with the school management and parents

We provide a ready programme and materials for the parents' meeting: a guidance note, a packing list and answers to parents' common questions.

It is hard to find a guide who can hold the attention of 15 children

We work only with guides who specialise in children's groups.

Children get bored on an ordinary excursion

We add a quest, game or activity to every programme - keeping the children engaged is our job.

You worry about how things will be managed on the road

The guide is right there with the group, and a coordinator stays in touch with the leader at every stage of the trip.

“Подорож київської групи учнів 8 класу була захоплюючою та яскравою. Продумані всі етапи дороги - яскраві локації, незабутні краєвиди, зупинки у мальовничих містах і селах. Діти побачили старовинні церкви, проїхали поїздом крізь гірські тунелі, насолодилися свіжим гірським повітрям. Багато простору, багато вражень!”

School trips in Transcarpathia: excursions, tours and quests for classes

Transcarpathia works for a school trip for one very practical reason: the castles, the mountains, the waterfalls and the thermal pools all sit close together. In a single day a class can see Uzhhorod Castle and run a quest through the streets of the old town. In two days you can add Mukachevo with Palanok and Saint Miklos, or head into the mountains instead. That is why school excursions here fit equally well into a one-day trip during the holidays, a tour with an overnight stay, or a graduation journey.

The ready-made routes fall roughly into two halves. The first is urban and takes a day. Uzhhorod with the castle and a quest through the old town is built for years 4-9: a sightseeing walk, the castle, the quest, and time for lunch and photos - a light but full programme with no long journeys. Mukachevo, with two castles, Palanok and Saint Miklos, suits years 5-11 and is the option for groups that want as much history as possible in one day. The second half is nature. Synevyr with the Shypit waterfall (1-2 days, years 6-11) covers the lake, the brown bear rehabilitation centre and photo stops in the mountains. Kolochava (1-2 days, years 5-11) means the Old Village open-air museum, the village museum sites and lunch at a mountain kolyba - for classes that want something authentic rather than another museum hall.

If a class is travelling from far away, the one-day format usually falls apart, because half the day disappears on the road. For those groups there is Transcarpathia in 2 Days: Uzhhorod and Mukachevo, accommodation and meals included, with a choice of activity - a quest or the thermal pools, years 7-11. The graduation trip to the Carpathians runs 2-3 days and is put together around what the class itself asks for: mountains, photo spots, a quest and an evening by the campfire. Both are planned for groups coming in from other cities, including meeting the group off the train or coach.

The route is always rebuilt around age. For years 1-4 we plan shorter routes, fewer journeys and more play, and the guiding itself is simpler. For years 5-8 we look for a balance of history, nature and team activities. For years 9-11 the programme is fuller and the students get more freedom. This is not a formality: thirty eight-year-olds and thirty seventeen-year-olds hold attention in completely different ways, and the timetable of the day reflects that.

One more thing worth knowing in advance. Children get bored on an ordinary excursion, and we do not argue with that. So every programme includes a quest, a game or an activity: in the castles and the towns the children are not listening, they are searching, solving and competing in teams. On top of that you can add workshops in Transcarpathian crafts and food, or outdoor activities - team games, easy walking routes, photo stops. If none of the ready-made options fits, we will put together a bespoke programme for your class free of charge.

Here is how it looks from the teacher side. You send an enquiry with the class, the age, the number of children and your preferred dates. Then a short conversation, about fifteen minutes, to pin down what you want and what the budget is. Within 48 hours we send two programme options with the route, the timings and a transparent quote. After that we hand over the materials for the parents meeting - a guidance note, a packing list and answers to the questions parents usually ask, because this is the stage where organising a trip most often stalls. Only then comes the trip itself, with an escort and contact from departure to return.

We take on the route and the age-appropriate programme, transport, a guide for a children group, quests and activities, meals, accommodation on multi-day programmes, the documents for the school and the day-to-day coordination. Only guides with experience of children groups work with the class - for a school excursion it is not enough to know the history, you have to speak to children plainly and hold the attention of thirty teenagers. During the trip the guide stays with the group, while a coordinator keeps in touch with the group leader before departure and on the road.

On money and paperwork, plainly. We cost each trip for the specific class, so there is no single price tag on this page: the cost depends on the number of children, the length of the trip, transport, meals and the programme. The rule of thumb is simple - the larger the group, the lower the cost per pupil, because transport and the guide are shared; the manager gives the exact figure for your inputs in the quote. We calculate the quote for the whole class in advance and fix it before departure, so there are no extra charges on the road. Payment by bank transfer with supporting documents for the school is available; we prepare the contract and the school paperwork, and we send the full list of what is needed from the school and from parents together with the programme. We operate officially as a licensed tour operator (licence AE No. 185601 of 06.12.2012), and our founding documents are published on the site.

And about the weather, since it is the second question after price. Every route has backup locations, and we adapt the programme on the day - ordinary rain is not a reason to cancel. Genuinely dangerous conditions are another matter: a storm warning, ice on mountain roads, flooding, or a route closed by the rescue service. In those cases we swap the mountain section for a lowland or indoor location, and if there is no safe option we move the trip to another date. The decision is taken together with the group leader and passed to the school before departure, not on the road. We have been taking school groups around Transcarpathia and the Carpathians since 2008, the routes themselves have been run 70+ times, and the company average rating on Google is 4.9. If you are planning an excursion for your class, send an enquiry and within 48 hours you will have two programme options with a costing. And if you are a travel agency or a children holiday organiser putting groups together yourself, the terms for partners are set out on the Partners page.
