Bus tours to Austria from Uzhhorod: how it works
Tours to Austria from Zakarpattia run for 1 to 4 days. Vienna is the farthest point in our European range: about 9 hours 30 minutes on the road including the border. That is why bus tours to Austria reaching Vienna are always multi-day: a hotel night here is not an option but a condition of the trip staying a rest. The only one-day format is the Parndorf shopping run, and it works differently: an overnight drive instead of a hotel.
Where the bus tours to Austria from Uzhhorod and Mukachevo go. Vienna for the weekend - two days, the Ring, the Hofburg, St Stephen's and Schönbrunn, from UAH 10,600. Vienna with the Parndorf outlet - two days, a guided tour of the capital plus McArthurGlen, from UAH 10,200. Budapest and Vienna - three days, two capitals in one trip plus Szentendre, from UAH 12,900. Two capitals - Bratislava and Vienna in three days with Devín Castle, from UAH 14,300. Austria from west to east - four days: Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt and St Wolfgang, from UAH 22,600.
The widest choice and the highest price. Austria is at once the broadest range we run (five multi-day routes) and the most expensive: a minimum of UAH 10,200 against UAH 6,500 in Romania. We do not pretend this is an accident. A longer leg, pricier hotels and higher costs on the ground all end up in the final figure. In return the Austrian tours give what no other destination does: two world-class sites - Schönbrunn and Hallstatt - in a single range.
Why the night is spent in Győr. On the 'Vienna for a weekend' tour the hotel is not in the Austrian capital but in Győr in Hungary, a little over an hour away. It is a deliberate trade-off: Viennese hotels cost several times more and would add several thousand hryvnias to the tour price while adding nothing to the programme - you spend the evening in the city and only return to sleep afterwards. Hotels on the other routes are chosen on the same principle.
Tours to Austria of 2, 3 and 4 days. The two-day format is a full day in Vienna plus an overnight stay: the classic first Vienna, or Vienna with shopping. The three-day tours add a second country: Hungary with Budapest and Szentendre, or Slovakia with Bratislava and Devín Castle - two capitals in one trip and no overnight drives. The four-day Austria from west to east goes beyond Vienna: Salzburg with the Mirabell gardens, lakeside Hallstatt and St Wolfgang.
If you only have one day. The one-day tour to Austria is the Parndorf shopping run: an evening departure from Uzhhorod, an overnight drive, a full day at the McArthurGlen outlet and a return the following night, from UAH 5,900 per person. The format requires a night on the coach - that is exactly how Austria fits into a single working day. There are no compulsory entrance tickets here, so you set the budget yourself. Vienna cannot be done in a day from Zakarpattia, and we do not offer that.
No overnight drives on the multi-day tours. On every route of two days or more each night is spent in a 3-4* hotel with breakfast, and transfers happen during the day. On the Austrian route this is especially noticeable: this is where the 'overnight coach' is used most often, after which the first day of the tour goes on sleep. On our programmes you arrive in Vienna in a fit state to look at it. The one exception is the one-day Parndorf shopping trip, which is deliberately built around an overnight drive - there is no other way to fit Austria into a single day, and we say so plainly in the tour description.
Two pick-up points. The main one is Uzhhorod, Koriatovych Square, followed by a pick-up in Mukachevo at no extra transfer charge. That makes tours to Austria from Uzhhorod and Mukachevo convenient for travellers in the eastern part of Zakarpattia too. The manager confirms the exact pick-up time along with the departure date.
What the price includes and how to book. Transport along the whole route, a Pro Karpaty group leader, a hotel with breakfast and €30,000 medical insurance. Entrance fees and optional extras - Schönbrunn, the viewpoints, the optional visits in Salzburg - are paid separately, with an estimated budget on each tour page. You send an enquiry, the manager confirms the date, and the manager tells you the prepayment; the balance is due before departure. Cancellation terms follow the Booking Rules: more than 2 days before the start, 10% of the price is retained; less than 2 days, 50%. Pro Karpaty has been organising tours since 2008 under tour operator licence AE No. 185601 of 06.12.2012.
