Frequently asked questions

What kinds of active holidays are available in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia?
We run off-road jeep trips across mountain meadows, rafting on the Tysa and Cheremosh, horse riding tours, the ascent of Hoverla, quad biking and paragliding flights. Every activity is available both as a day trip and as part of a multi-day tour.
Do I need special training for rafting or jeep tours?
No. The routes are chosen so that beginners can handle them: an instructor accompanies the group on the water, and a driver is behind the wheel of the off-roader. Equipment and briefing are included in the price. The ascent of Hoverla only requires ordinary stamina and comfortable footwear.
From what age can children take part?
Children under 14 may take part only when accompanied by an adult. Rafting and quad biking have their own age limits depending on the route - check with the manager for your chosen date.
When is the best season for active holidays in the Carpathians?
Rafting is at its fullest in spring and early summer. Jeep trips, horse riding and mountain ascents work well from May to October. Winter programmes run in the cold season, and the thermal baths are open all year round.
How much do active holidays cost and what is included?
The price depends on the route, its length and the size of the group - the current cost is shown with every offer on this page. It usually covers transport along the route, an instructor or guide, and equipment; meals and entrance tickets are often paid separately, and this is always stated in the description.
Where do the trips depart from?
The main departures are from Uzhhorod and Mukachevo. Pick-up in other towns of Transcarpathia can be arranged; the manager confirms the pick-up time the day before the trip.
What should I bring?
Comfortable sports shoes, a windbreaker or raincoat, water and a change of clothes - mountain weather shifts quickly. For rafting, bring clothes you do not mind getting wet. All other equipment is provided on site.
Can an active tour be booked for a company or a school group?
Yes. We build programmes for groups of any size - from a family outing to a corporate trip or a school class. Send us your preferred dates and the number of participants, and we will prepare the route and the quote.

Active holidays in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia

Transcarpathia is a region where you do not have to go looking for an active holiday: the mountains, mountain rivers and high meadows begin an hour's drive from Uzhhorod. This page brings together the activities we run every season - jeep tours in the Carpathians, rafting, horse riding, the ascent of Hoverla, quad biking and paragliding.

The most popular format is the day trip. In a single day a group can climb to a mountain meadow by off-roader, have lunch in the open air and be back by evening - convenient if you are already staying in Transcarpathia and want to add one intense day to your plans. Multi-day active tours suit those who come for the mountains themselves: they combine transfers, nights in the highlands and two or three activities in a row.

Rafting on the Tysa and the Cheremosh is a story of its own. In spring and early summer the rivers run high and the descent is at its most vivid; in summer the routes are calmer and work well for families with children. An instructor is always on the water with the group, and life jackets and paddles are included, so no previous experience is needed.

The ascent of Hoverla remains the headline item for anyone visiting the Carpathians properly for the first time. The route is non-technical and takes a day, but it does require decent footwear and readiness for changeable weather - in the mountains it can turn within half an hour. That is why we go up in guided groups and always keep a fallback plan for bad weather.

Active holidays in Transcarpathia pair naturally with recovery: after a day in the mountains it makes sense to finish at the thermal baths of Berehove or Kosyno. Many of our guests plan their trip exactly this way - activity during the day, thermal water in the evening.

We are a licensed tour operator based in Uzhhorod, working since 2008. Departures run from Uzhhorod and Mukachevo, and pick-up in other towns of Transcarpathia can be arranged. If you cannot find the format or the date you need, leave a request and we will build a programme for your group - from a family outing to a corporate trip.
