Tour programme
We leave Uzhhorod at 06:00 and pick up travellers in Mukachevo at 06:45 - and four hours later the coach is rolling down the avenues of Pest. Not a single night in a seat: the border is 25 km from home, so you arrive in Budapest fresh. A guided tour with a licensed guide: Heroes' Square, Andrássy Avenue, the Parliament from the embankment, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church on Buda Hill. The evening is free: we recommend an hour-long boat trip along the Danube after dark (optional) or coffee and cake in one of Pest's old patisseries. Overnight at a hotel in Budapest.
After breakfast it is two and a half hours on the road and we are in Vienna. A guided walk: the Opera, the Hofburg, the Graben and St Stephen's Cathedral. Then time for your own Vienna: Schönbrunn, the museum quarter, or a Viennese strudel in a classic café. Towards evening we return to Budapest; anyone with energy left can visit the Széchenyi baths (optional). The second night is in the same hotel: the suitcases stay where they are.
Breakfast, check-out - and forty minutes to Szentendre, the painted little town of Serbian merchants with its marzipan shops and handmade ceramics. Two hours in the narrow streets, lunch - and we set off home. The border, Mukachevo - and by around 21:00 you are in Uzhhorod. Two capitals, three days, zero nights on the coach.

Frequently asked questions
You need an international passport - biometric or with a valid visa - to travel abroad. An internal passport or a driving licence will not do for crossing the border. Children must have their own international passport. Queues at the border are possible, and travel time depends on them, so the schedule is approximate.
Season: all year round. The departure date is on request: we agree it around group enrolment, so specific days are not published on this page. Leave an enquiry and the manager will name the nearest available dates.
Entrance tickets, optional extras, lunches and dinners are not included in the tour price and are paid separately on the spot - this keeps the price fair for those who skip part of the sights. On this route the items paid separately are the evening Danube boat trip, the Széchenyi Baths, Schönbrunn and the museum quarter in Vienna - all optional, so the final sum depends on how many of them you choose. The manager will suggest an approximate budget before departure, once the current ticket prices are known.
