Limpopo Zoo and the Oskar Dolphinarium - the perfect tour for children

Spending time with animals is interesting, pleasant and even good for your health. Zoos attract both children and adults with their inhabitants, for whom the staff try to create conditions close to the natural ones. A trip to Limpopo Zoo + the Dolphinarium - a unique chance to watch animals that have their own individual traits and even personalities.

Here are 5 interesting facts about the zoo:

1. The first (and only) zoo in the Lviv region
   Limpopo is the first zoo in the Lviv region, and it currently remains the only establishment of its kind in the region.
2. A variety of animals - hundreds of species
   The zoo is home to more than 300-700 animals (figures vary between sources) of dozens of different species: big cats (lions, tigers, leopards, lynxes), exotic mammals (for example, capybaras and meerkats), birds, as well as traditional farm and domestic animals.
3. Participation in international animal conservation programmes
   Limpopo Zoo takes part in the European EEP and ESP programmes - working to preserve and breed species listed in the Red Book or under threat of extinction.
4. Convenient facilities for visitors and children
   On the zoo grounds there is a café with a summer terrace, a children’s playground, the chance to ride a pony or a donkey, a souvenir shop, as well as grounds of around 3-5 hectares that are pleasant to stroll around.
5. Social responsibility during the war
   During the war the zoo hosted displaced people and soldiers for rest and rehabilitation. They introduced free or reduced admission for internally displaced persons and military personnel - as a way of supporting people through a difficult time.
