Zakarpattian Vechornytsi at the Opryshky Kolyba - an authentic show with the soul of the Carpathians
A genuinely authentic theatrical performance - the Zakarpattian vechornytsi (traditional evening gathering) - awaits you in the Khust area, not far from Uzhhorod. These very lands were the heartland of the legendary Zakarpattian opryshky - folk rebels who fought for justice, equality and freedom.
This is not just a dinner or a concert - it is a living immersion in the history and traditions of Zakarpattia, where every guest becomes a participant in the events.
How the real Zakarpattian vechornytsi begin
When the local elder Did-Vsevid (Grandfather Know-All) blows a ram’s horn three times, it is the signal that the vechornytsi have begun. The fiddle, the drymba (jew’s harp), the sopilka (flute), the accordion and the drum strike up, and the kolyba fills with singing, laughter and dancing.
Adults and children in bright folk costumes whirl in spirited folk dances. Two matchmaking gossips joke about courtship in the colourful Hutsul dialect, the tables groan with Zakarpattian dishes, and the wine flows like a river.

A tour led by the mistress of the kolyba
The mistress of the kolyba leads a captivating tour and tells legends of the Zakarpattian opryshky. Right at the gate, guests are hospitably greeted with bread and crackling and local horilka (vodka).
You will learn:
about the life and exploits of the opryshky;
the stories of Khust Fortress and Palanok Castle;
about the legendary cannon made by the opryshok Pintea;
how the kolyba was built from wood, stone and iron - following ancient traditions.
Dinner in the kolyba
Guests are invited to tables set around a large open fire right in the centre of the hut. Hutsul and opryshky dishes await you, among which you simply must try the Opryshky Dish - a nourishing food the rebels ate instead of bread.
Interactive Zakarpattian vechornytsi
The climax of the evening is a theatrical mini-play in which all the guests take part. Spirited dances, folk songs, jokes and merriment are accompanied by Zakarpattian musicians.
A special guest of the evening is the talkative raven Yasha, the symbol of the kolyba, who will «tell» you what was happening in Zakarpattia in the era of the folk uprisings.
All that is asked of you is to relax like true opryshky: savour the dishes, sing, dance and have fun to your heart’s content.

Running the excursionThe excursion runs in any weather. Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before departure.
Cancellation by the clientThe prepayment made to confirm the booking is a deposit within the meaning of Articles 570-571 of the Civil Code of Ukraine. If the Client withdraws from the excursion, the deposit is non-refundable unless otherwise provided by the booking terms or current Ukrainian law.
