Excursion-hike to the Blue Lagoon in Zakarpattia

A hike to the Blue Lagoon in Zakarpattia will reveal a paradise on Earth to you. Dense forest, steep mountain slopes, cliffs, moss-covered stones and trees, a swift mountain river. And on top of that, huge polished white stones are scattered along the banks. It is exactly this picturesque nature of the Carpathians that awaits you on the excursion-hike to the Blue Lagoon.

The highlight of the excursion will be a visit - and, if the weather is kind, a swim - in a river lagoon of astonishing beauty with turquoise-coloured water. The emotions born of the amazing nature of the Carpathians will, without doubt, warm the memories of even the most dedicated city dweller for a long time to come!

Excursion programme:

- 09.00 - Departure from Uzhhorod
- Transfer to the village of Chornoholova.
- A visit to a 17th-century wooden church.
- A hike to the mountain lagoon - over the day you will cover about 15 km! The route runs along the mountain river Liutianka, tightly hemmed in on both sides by the feet of the mountain ridges. Yet the climb along the way is barely noticeable.
- Along the way lies the Stanychnyi natural area - a true little paradise surrounded by steep mountain slopes! Here we will make a short rest stop.
- After a snack and regaining our strength, we move on towards the river lagoon.
- In places you will come across lone rails sticking out of the ground - for once a narrow-gauge railway ran along the river, «carrying its cartloads of brushwood» out of these hard-to-reach spots.
- Your reward for the journey will be two things: the mountain lagoon itself, with turquoise water that is surprisingly deep for such places (up to 3 metres), and stones of bizarre shapes polished over millennia. You look - and it is no longer stone, but waves frozen in stone! An amazing sight!

- Return to Uzhhorod at about 19:00

Attention! The descent right by the lagoon is very steep, please be careful!

What to bring on the hike:
- comfortable footwear (for example: trekking sandals, trainers, boots);
- a hat (protection from the sun);
- a raincoat (in case of rain, the weather in the mountains is changeable);
- sandwiches (for lunch by the lagoon);
- water (you can take an empty bottle and fill it from a spring along the way);
- a great mood! - a must !!!

The hike to the Blue Lagoon appeals to lovers of living, wild, photogenic:)) nature. After all, here you will find simply incredible landscapes, fresh air, an almost complete absence of tourist crowds and the chance to take great photos of the scenery of a little paradise surrounded by the beautiful Carpathians.

The hike to the paradise lagoon runs every Sunday from April to October (weather permitting).
