Tour programme

  • Departure from Uzhhorod at 06:30.
  • The road to Kraków runs through Slovakia - about 400 kilometres, with technical stops for coffee and a rest.
  • The coach reaches the city at around 14:00, and the group covers the core of Kraków the same day.
  • The Main Square with the Cloth Hall and the town hall tower, St Mary's Basilica with the wooden altarpiece by Veit Stoss, Grodzka Street up to Wawel Hill: we see the royal castle and the cathedral from the outside, from the Vistula side, where the classic view of the Polish kings' residence opens up.
  • The group leader explains why Kraków kept its medieval street grid when other capitals lost theirs, and how the city lived through belonging to three different states.
  • We also see the Barbican and St Florian's Gate - what remains of the city walls, and where the royal road to Wawel once began.
  • Towards the evening we move into Kazimierz - the former Jewish town, now a quarter of workshops, bookshops and small kitchens where dinner costs noticeably less than on the Main Square.
  • Check-in at a 3* hotel and overnight stay.
