Tour programme
9:00 Meeting with the guide near the hotel . Departure from Uzhhorod.
Out-of-town excursion to Lumshory: bathing in vats.
Excursion to Nevytske Castle . Legend has it that young brides of noble families were hidden here, far from prying eyes. It is believed that the castle appeared even before the Hungarians came to Transcarpathia, around the 8th century. The stronghold survived four major rebuildings, and its main architectural ensemble took shape in the middle of the 15th century. Around that time a moat appeared around the castle, constantly filled with running water. This is a unique medieval hydraulic structure, since in those days bringing water into a moat on a hilltop was a great achievement. Only two such systems have been found in Central Europe, and both were built much later. In 1644, during the religious wars, the fortress was destroyed by the Transylvanian voivode György II Rákóczi. Since then only mysterious ruins remind us of the former grandeur of the impregnable stronghold.
The old mountain village of Lumshory: bathing in vats . (extra charge - from UAH 200 per person)
A short walk to the beautiful waterfalls "Solovey" and "Partyzan" (Davir) and, most importantly, bathing in vats over an open fire, with hydrogen sulphide water, on the bank of a mountain river. A fantastic pleasure, written about by the ambassadors of Peter I when they travelled through the Carpathians. A huge cast-iron vat of about 2,000 litres stands in the middle of a wooden kolyba without a roof. It is filled with mineral water and heated with firewood over an open fire. Several stones lie in the vat. You climb inside (5-6 people), while the hospitable host adds firewood to the fire and slowly "cooks" you. As soon as you feel your blood beginning to boil (although in fact the water is heated to no more than +45°C), jump out! A few steps away is an icy mountain stream: dive in head first and then back into the vat. Both in summer and in winter the procedure takes place under the open sky.
Lunch and tasting of Transcarpathian cuisine : 16 dishes + plum brandy from local grandfather Mykhailo (extra charge - UAH 400 per person)
