Daily excursion schedule: Transcarpathia and Europe

You have probably already heard a great deal about the so-called natural wonders of Ukraine - there are just seven of them. One of them is the legendary Shypit Waterfall - the most majestic waterfall of Transcarpathia. One really could talk about it for a very long time, and it seems you could listen about this wonder of nature simply endlessly!

The Shypit Waterfall is located in one of the most picturesque parts of Transcarpathia - not far from the village of Pylypets. According to scientists, the waterfall formed at the spot where Palaeogene sandstones came to the surface, along with gravelstones with thin layers of shale.

Shypit astonishes with its grandeur, might and mystical beauty. Like all waterfalls, there are a great many legends around it, mostly - romantic ones connected with a love story. A story like this is also told of Shypit.

According to one version, the name Shypit comes from the fact that the constant noise of the water, which can be heard even at a distance, is very much like a whisper (‘shepit’). Although, of course, it is hard to imagine how such a dizzying torrent of water can resemble a whisper, but so it is, and you can see for yourself!

The Shypit Waterfall, which every tourist simply must see

Shypit - is a waterfall that is very beautiful in its own way at different times of year, but always magnificent and captivating. However, it appears in all its glory precisely in spring, when the snows melt at the foot of Hymba, filling the waters of the stream. No less beautiful is Shypit in autumn too - in the golden, fragrant and romantic embrace of the autumn Carpathians. And in winter the waters of the stream do not freeze completely, so that an amazing sight appears before your eyes as a crystal torrent of water plunges from the cliff. What is more, the view of Shypit is a pleasure to enjoy both from below and from above - the landscape will be equally breathtaking and unforgettable either way.

It is no wonder that Shypit has featured in many works of art, including literary ones. For example, the waterfall itself and the famous festival of subcultures held on its territory every year became the central motif of a novel by the well-known contemporary Ukrainian writer Lyubko Deresh.

You can get acquainted with the beautiful waterfall of the Carpathians, feel its majesty, mountain freshness and inexpressible natural beauty, during our regular excursion to Synevyr, where you will also visit the highest mountain lake in Transcarpathia and the only shelter for brown bears in all of Ukraine.
