A hot-air balloon flight: rules for a safe adventure

Taking a hot-air balloon flight can be done on any day convenient for you throughout the whole year, provided the weather meets certain norms and standards. You can take to the sky from early morning, 1-2 hours after sunrise, and in the evening, 2-3 hours before sunset. In winter, flights last up to three hours and are possible throughout the whole of daylight hours. The following weather conditions are safe for ballooning: a wind speed of 4-5 m/s and no precipitation.

A hot-air balloon can carry 4 passengers of varying build at once, but with a total weight of no more than 250 kg. On average a flight lasts a little over an hour, though should unforeseen circumstances arise (a sudden change in the weather, etc.) the pilot has the right to “land” the balloon earlier. All passengers without exception must observe the safety rules and the briefing given by the pilot. It is best to choose comfortable sportswear, take a windproof jacket and a hat - the wind blows at altitude and it is quite cool. High-heeled footwear is not recommended. Children from the age of 8 are allowed to fly, but only accompanied by adults. Passengers under the influence of drugs or alcohol are forbidden to go up into the sky. The date and time of the flight may be changed - it goes without saying that everything depends on the weather. This means that if the weather conditions are not favourable (a thunderstorm, heavy rain, a hurricane), the flight is postponed to another day most convenient for you, and at no extra cost.
