Velyka Kopanya - the capital of twins in Transcarpathia

Transcarpathia is famous for its amazing places. Among its highlights are - true wonders of nature, the most precious architectural sites, wonderful cuisine and much, much more - you could go on and on! One such unique place is also a small Transcarpathian village - Velyka Kopanya. A small village with great fame

Just about ten years ago Velyka Kopanya was a village nobody had heard of. No one attached any particular importance to the fact that a large number of twins are regularly born here, until, within a few weeks of each other, three whole pairs were born! It was especially interesting, the local residents recall, when all these children went to school and made up almost half the class. They say that from all the twin pupils you could even form a separate class, only with children of different age groups.

In fact, Velyka Kopanya is home to more pairs of twins than any other village in Ukraine - more than fifty. Interestingly, even the animals here produce twins, and the hens lay eggs with two yolks.

It is believed that the reason for this - is the special water from a spring in the village. The villagers believe that if you drink water from this spring - you will have twins. Scientists too have set about explaining this phenomenon: they managed to prove that the water from the local spring really does contain elements that can promote the birth of twins. The zinc and selenium in the local spring have a beneficial effect on the reproductive system and, moreover, promote cell division.

Since then, more and more people who dream of twins come every year to drink and take home some of the famous Kopanya water.

As for the water, it really is special. Not only is it very tasty, but it is also extraordinarily pure: it leaves no sediment and never spoils. Collecting this water has become so popular that there are always cars parked and a queue by the spring, which is located practically beside the road. The locals say that people even stop to collect water at night as they drive past.
