Excursion to Khust: highlights of Maramureş

White daffodils against the background of the Carpathian mountains
Daily excursion schedule: Transcarpathia and Europe

The Khust excursion “Highlights of Maramureş” is for those who want to know Transcarpathia in all its variety. We invite you to join a rewarding trip that leaves vivid and unforgettable impressions.

You will visit the village of Iza, the centre of wicker weaving, where folk craftsmen create masterpieces out of ordinary willow. At the deer farm you will meet one of the most graceful of animals, the sika deer. In the village of Baranovo you will call at a cheese dairy that produces organic cheeses and take part in a tasting. A welcome addition to the programme is a visit to thermal pools with uniquely healing water. And all of this against the picturesque mountain panoramas of the Khust area.

*During the narcissus bloom, the visit to the thermal pools is replaced by an excursion to the Valley of Narcissi, which lies in the Kireshi tract on the outskirts of Khust.

Khust excursion “Highlights of the Khust area”, programme:

The Khust area is one of the most colourful parts of Transcarpathia, where it is not only the majestic scenery that impresses, but also the local character and a set of genuinely unique and captivating attractions.

We invite you to join one of the fullest and brightest excursions to Khust - “Highlights of Maramureş”.

The excursion to Khust runs every Wednesday.

* During the narcissus bloom, bathing in the thermal springs is replaced by a visit to the Valley of Narcissi. The valley lies 4 kilometres from Khust, in the Kireshi tract. It is worth coming here at least once in a lifetime to admire the delicate white flowers of the narrow-leaved narcissus, brought here by an ancient glacier. We are used to seeing these flowers singly in flower beds, but nature has given us the chance to look out over unbroken fields of them in bloom. Beyond its beauty, the “Valley of Narcissi” reserve is a unique botanical site protecting the largest area in Europe where the relict narrow-leaved narcissus grows.
