Cycling tours around Uzhhorod: creative and mobile bike rides

Cycling tours
This is the best choice for those who wish to see the ancient city in all its beauty and grandeur. In Uzhhorod, cycling culture began to develop actively over the last five years. The main catalyst for this development was the Night Ride movement. It brought local cyclists together and quite quickly restored the bicycle’s popularity as a means of transport. It became fashionable to get around the city by bike, especially among young people.
Cycling tours: routes and landmarks
It all began in 2010, when a group of people came together around the idea of pleasant, creative and active leisure. But over time this grew into something more. Today practically every resident of Uzhhorod has a bicycle at home. And several thousand cyclists gather for the night rides each time.
Thanks to the explosive growth in the popularity of cycling, Uzhhorod itself began to change too. The local cycling infrastructure is developing. Bike parking spaces and cycle lanes are appearing, cycling schools are opening and bike rental services are offered. Drivers are beginning to perceive cyclists as full participants in road traffic, and even the first bike café has appeared, which constantly circulates around the central part of the city.
The local authorities are increasingly beginning to listen to the needs of cyclists and take their interests into account. Working meetings and round tables on the topic of Uzhhorod’s cycling infrastructure are held regularly, and a programme for its development up to 2020 has even been drawn up.
And this year, with the support of the European Union, a tourist cycling centre has opened in Uzhhorod. Here there are bicycles and equipment that can be rented. You can also get help in planning your travel route and choosing cycling tours.
