Voievodyno - a holiday in the spirit of true aristocracy

Daily excursion schedule: Transcarpathia and Europe

парк Шенборна Воєводино Transcarpathia is renowned for its warm, pleasant climate and clean mountain air, but within the region there is an area where the air is considered the cleanest of all. It is in this picturesque district that the famous Voievodyno resort is located, which grows more appealing and popular with every passing year.

And not without reason, for there are few places where you will encounter such a wonderfully harmonious blend of the beauty of untouched nature and the familiar comforts of civilisation. Among ancient trees in dense forests, close to a beautiful river between majestic Carpathian mountains, an entire tourist complex with well-developed infrastructure lies hidden. You can holiday here in complete comfort at any time of year.

In Voievodyno it truly is beautiful in its own way at every season. Even the most unpredictable weather cannot spoil a pleasant, peaceful walk.

The Schonborn Park in Voievodyno: landscape symbolism and a captivating history

The main landmark of Voievodyno - the park of the Counts von Schonborn - was very recently restored through the efforts of patrons and enthusiasts of the park. It is simply a fairy-tale place that you fall in love with almost instantly, the moment you catch sight of the vast expanse of the park, neat and well tended. Here you immediately get the feeling of stepping into another world and becoming a character in events that took place many centuries ago.

The park was the property of the noble Austrian Schonborn family as part of the surrounding hunting grounds. Today it is an important cultural landmark in the history of Transcarpathia, dating back to the time of Austro-Hungarian rule here.

Despite the fact that the park covers a considerable area (more than 10 hectares), an atmosphere of calm, tranquillity and unhurried ease reigns here. As does the spirit of true aristocracy.

You will be amazed at how deeply symbolic every element of the landscape is. For example, seven lamp-posts, each different from the other, symbolising the seven days of the week; twelve little bridges as a symbol of the twelve signs of the zodiac; twenty-two benches bearing the coats of arms of all the states that Transcarpathia was once part of, and so on.

Particularly worthy of attention is Lake Tur. It lies in the very heart of the park and has a small island in its middle, whose outline matches the contours of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time of its founding.

During our excursion to Voievodyno you will learn much of interest about the peoples living in this valley and about the deeds of the Austrian counts. You will take great pleasure in uncovering the many elements of historical symbolism presented here, and will immerse yourself completely in the local atmosphere of romance, captivating history and ancient aristocracy.

Romantic horse rides and a trout dinner

You could wander the vast expanse of the Schonborn Park endlessly - for hours on end, enjoying the soothing silence and the surprises at every step. But if a walk on foot tires you out, or you fancy something truly special, you can set off on a horse ride through the park or, more romantic still, take a ride in a carriage.

After a captivating outing you will be not only thoroughly satisfied but also hungry. Fortunately, on the resort’s grounds you can enjoy a tasty and inexpensive meal, choosing dishes of traditional Transcarpathian cuisine from the menu and sampling the finest local wines.
Besides, there is a fish pond here with real rainbow trout. Here you can not only fish, but then send your catch to the kitchen of the local restaurant and choose for yourself the gourmet dish they will prepare from it.

A holiday in Voievodyno - is a pleasant, health-giving holiday in the great outdoors, enjoyed in the utmost comfort, with a captivating pastime in one of the most beautiful and picturesque regions of Transcarpathia!
